Barker reports strong Regents proficiency and steady attendance, Cornwell says

Mr. Cornwell, Coordinator of Curriculum and Professional Learning, reviewed multi-year Regents and district performance data and said the District’s Regents proficiency rates remain strong. He cited Algebra I proficiency at 93%, Geometry proficiency at about 76%, and ELA proficiency at 90%, while noting mastery rates vary and conversion charts change with new exam versions scheduled for 2026.
Cornwell also detailed attendance work: a district-level attendance team, parent meetings, home visits and recognition programs led elementary chronic absenteeism to decline; across grades 2–4 only seven students were chronically absent in 2024–25. He tied improvements to the District Strategic Plan and continued emphasis on data-driven instruction. Mr. Cornwell said the District will administer new statewide exams in June 2026 and cautioned readers that comparisons across years should consider changing conversion charts.
