Dina Norcutt of the County of Monterey Housing and Community Development department gave a walkthrough of the MC Car Week mapping site and new mobile features intended to help residents and visitors navigate event traffic.
Norcutt demonstrated live camera feeds on the map, a new direct driving instruction feature that opens a user's chosen mapping app, and a page-translation button added the previous week. "One of the things that is very new and cool is we have now direct driving instructions," she said, and noted the live traffic cams are shown on the main overview tab to speed loading. The site also includes Caltrans and CHP traffic layers, links to construction and maintenance projects, and contact info for the county permit center. Norcutt said the tool was rebuilt quickly and previously won a CSEC challenge award in 2021.
Pasculi reminded listeners that the county's Uconnect Monterey County mobile app also links to the Car Week page and the county website has a daily event tracker to help plan travel during busy periods.
