The letter listed apparent low bidders and amounts: Wayland and Curry Construction Services, Inc., for general construction at $4,050,000; E and I for mechanical at $666,945; Hoover Heating and Cooling LLC for plumbing at $243,000; and Cars Construction for electrical at $288,000.
"The combined total of the apparent low bids including all 5 alternates is $5,247,945," the committee member read. The letter compared that total to the board's pre-established construction budget of $5,279,925 and reported the combined apparent low bid amount is $31,980 under the construction budget. The reader said the town's office will perform a detailed review of the bids, bidder qualifications and contractor responsibility information before issuing a formal recommendation on contract awards.
Board members and staff said the bid results generally compare favorably to expectations but warned that some individual primes were over budget: the mechanical contract was listed as $63,820 over its budgeted amount and the plumbing contract $87,250 over budget; the general construction and electrical contracts came in under budget. Officials said these variances will be considered during the contract-responsibility review.
The board opened the matter for public comment and said it expects to reconvene next Wednesday for formal award consideration once financing and final CPA estimates are available. No contract awards were finalized at this meeting.
