The Richardson ISD Board of Trustees accepted gifts totaling $179,333.74 during its Aug. 6 meeting, district staff reported.
Finance and district staff listed eight donations above $5,000, including $20,000 from the Arapaho Classical Magnet PTA, $22,000 from the Brentfield Elementary PTA, $34,576.87 from Lake Highlands Elementary PTA and $33,837.55 from Richardson Heights Elementary PTA. Other gifts included a $29,600 donation to the PE department from Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation and $10,000 from retired teachers earmarked for strategy and engagement work. District staff said the monthly total including smaller gifts came to $179,333.74 and recommended board acceptance; trustees approved the recommendation 6–0.
Board members emphasized appreciation for parents and community donors who raise funds through PTAs and booster clubs, noting that those organizations are funded by local residents and families. The board and staff said many gifts were used this summer to stock a first‑year teacher supply store and support back‑to‑school activities.
