The Select Board approved a short-term "bridge" agreement allowing Insight/American Tower to continue operating the cell tower on Summerhill for six months (renewable once) while the town prepares an RFP to competitively reprocure lease rights.
Steve Silverstein, the town's executive director of municipal services, told the board that staff had "reclaim[ed] $30,000 from American Tower Corporation" after reviewing lease language and that the bridge agreement preserves continuity while the town readies a publicly advertised RFP. Silverstein said the RFP would be drafted no later than September and that updating the lease should allow the town to command market rates rather than a year-2000 index rate.
The board unanimously approved the agreement and authorized the town administrator to sign on behalf of the town.
