Norco recognizes Donation of Life Month; organ-donation advocate shares personal story

Kat, who identified herself as representing 1 Legacy, thanked the city for its partnership and said there are more than 110,000 people waiting for life-saving organs, with about 20% of those patients living in California. She described the personal impact of donation: her 11-year-old son became a donor and she has since met three organ recipients whose lives were changed.
"Because of communities like Norco, more people are learning about the importance of registering as donors and having those important conversations with their loved ones," Kat said. She urged continued civic leadership to raise awareness and said donation "turns loss into legacy." Councilmembers thanked her and posed for a photo with the proclamation.
The proclamation raises awareness and acknowledges the city's continuing partnership with local organ-procurement efforts; the council did not take further action beyond the ceremonial recognition.
