Staff acknowledged the concern but said much of the original wooden structure had exceeded its lifespan, making wholesale reuse infeasible; they suggested alternatives such as donor picket panels, a plaque or solicited local designs for an entry archway to preserve the community story.
Commissioners recommended identifying specific locations for public art and engagement processes to ensure community input is documented for the September decision review.
