Under the initiative, students in the district can opt into a card that provides access to the library’s digital materials and online learning resources without requiring proof of address or mandatory parental verification. "The cards are... they do not have to 4 hours of proof of address... the parents have the option of coming in and making it, like, a full full [card]," the staff member said, clarifying that parents could later upgrade or complete registration.
Staff characterized the program as a way to ensure every child in the school district has the opportunity to access materials and online learning; the card will be integrated into school sign-up packets to facilitate enrollment early in the school year.
