The Shelby County MWBE Goal Setting Committee voted on May 6 to set a 26% MWBE participation goal for the Whitehaven Clinic 3‑story construction project should the county choose that design.
Jeff Goodman of the Shelby County Health Department told the committee that department leadership “would like to price out what both a 2 story and a 3 story facility would look like” and that, if the budget allows, the department prefers building the three‑story version. Goodman asked the committee to set goals for the 3‑story option in advance of solicitation.
Dr. Hall moved that the committee approve a 26% MWBE goal for the Whitehaven Clinic 3‑story project with a project amount of $5,304,953.62. Victor Anderson seconded. The chair clarified the committee was setting a goal only for the 3‑story option so the solicitation would not be delayed. The committee recorded aye votes from Dr. Hall and Victor Anderson; Administrator Gloucester did not vote. The chair announced the motion carried, recording the 26% goal for the 3‑story bid.
Committee members noted logistical follow‑ups — including how to structure the solicitation to price both options — should be handled by staff outside the meeting.
