Engineer describes tank fabrication, likely separate contracts and bidding process

Jason described the fabrication process for steel elevated tanks: panels and structural steel are brought to site and assembled "like a jigsaw puzzle," using internal erection methods, welding and sometimes internal cranes to raise the central column and shell.
He said there are only a few companies that perform this specialized work and that tank fabrication would likely be a separate contract because of the trade specialization. Pump station construction, site work and pressure-reducing vaults could be bid separately or in grouped packages. Jason described typical procurement steps: prepare plans and specifications, obtain permits, advertise for bids, have contractors submit bids, and have the engineer evaluate bids and recommend the low responsible bidder for town board review.
Jason noted the town would have input on bidder review and that, once an engineer is hired, the design and permitting process would likely occupy most of 2026 with construction readiness in spring 2027.
