Mission Viejo honors local Marines and highlights Adopt‑a‑Marine support

The Mission Viejo City Council recognized Lance Corporal Tewan Manapala and Sergeant Grant Gallatin from the Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, presenting certificates of accommodation and $150 gift cards for their service. Mayor Bucknam invited representatives from Senator Catherine Blakespear, Congresswoman Young Kim, Assemblywoman Kate Sanchez and County Supervisor Donald Wagner to present additional certificates of recognition.
Gail Wood of the Marine & Sailors Adoption Committee thanked the council for its continued support and introduced 1st Sergeant Lopez, who described the battalion’s needs and noted the positive impact of community donations during the holidays. Volunteer Monique Getz demonstrated the welcome baskets funded in part by the council and donations: she said the committee had prepared about 35–40 baskets and had been asked to prepare roughly 80 more within the next 60 days to serve new arrivals at Camp Pendleton.
