Council corrects custodial contract amount after staff identifies typo, approves expanded scope

The council approved an amendment to the city's custodial-services contract after Public Works Director Danielle Bonham pointed out a typo in the resolution's dollar figure. Bonham said the corrected figure reflects adding the fiscal-year 24–25 amount, additional services and fiscal year 2026 under the existing contract term.
Bonham explained the increase is driven by adding buildings previously staffed by two laid-off custodians — the police department, the clock tower, finance, HR and community-center facilities — to the existing contractor's scope. She told the council the city still expects long-term savings of approximately $100,000 compared with the costs of keeping two full-time employees on the payroll.
Councilmember Scott asked about long-term pension and welfare cost tradeoffs; staff reiterated the one-year contract term and said the increase does not change the contract term. The council moved and unanimously approved the corrected not-to-exceed amount and the contract expansion.
