Residents and climate groups urge higher Deep Green enrollment and faster climate action

"The number that sticks out for me is 6.1... what can we do to get that, say, to 50% in the next year?" Wilson asked, urging aggressive outreach and programmatic support. Catherine Bitt, a recent graduate and former youth commissioner, urged the commission to set annual tree-planting targets and to consider urban forestry as a frontline climate mitigation strategy, warning that tree removals can cancel out planting gains and that preservation of mature trees should be a parallel priority.
