Superintendent outlines substitute management rollout and staffing progress

Superintendent Kathy told trustees the district had met with the vendor and plans to implement the frontline absence and substitute management system next week, after deciding not to begin with a phased pilot because of district size concerns. "So our feeling is we don't wanna start with 1 system for securing substitutes and then have to change that, partway. So we're ripping off the Band Aid and moving forward with it, next week," Kathy said.
Kathy also described substitute approvals in the meeting packet, a new building substitute position for daily coverage, and ongoing interviews for assistant cook, health aide and teacher vacancies; she asked the board to be ready to approve hires after reference checks. The superintendent asked trustees to receive regular updates on how the new system affects staffing and morale.
