Commission approves Bravo Players Guild performing‑arts studio CUP

Staff presented the project recommendation after reviewing the applicant’s letter of intent and a parking study showing the plaza would be 43% occupied at peak demand with the new use, leaving 141 spaces available. Natalie Tran, a staff planner, told commissioners the use would be limited to rehearsals, training and workshops and that no public performances were proposed at the site. "They will be using it just for rehearsals and training and workshops," Tran said in response to a commissioner’s question.
Applicant representatives described planned class times (peak hours 3:30–8:30 p.m.), an anticipated on‑site staffing level of up to six employees and class sizes ranging from 35 to 50 students. Supporters at the hearing emphasized the social and educational benefits for children. "Bravo focuses the performance dynamics such as empathy and integrity," director Jamie Powell told the commission.
Commissioners asked how the operator would manage drop‑off and prevent loitering; the applicant said rehearsal schedules provide clear start and end times so parents can drop off and pick up students promptly. The applicant also said all instructors are subject to live‑scan and FBI background checks. The commission moved and seconded approval; the motion passed and staff will finalize conditions and the resolution.
