Treasurer reports June collections; council notes Chief Riddle's retirement

Treasurer Cheryl McClanahan presented the town's financial receipts: real-estate tax collections of $96,356.01 in June, monthly meals-tax receipts of $35,310.00, interest income of $11,953.25, sale of cigarette stamps for $6,000, and traffic fines totaling $3,406.32. She said overall collections are about 90% with real estate at 95.31% collected and that 2026 personal-property tax bills will be mailed in October.
Mayor George Stubbs also reported he attended Police Chief Riddle's retirement ceremony and noted a resident's concern about tarps on Windsor High School property had been referred to Isle of Wight County Schools. Council accepted the treasurer's report on a motion by Councilman Marlin Sharp (Motion #7).
