Town Manager William Saunders IV updated council that contractors working on the Norfolk & Western caboose have completed much of the small-detail work and are now framing window openings and installing the top roof gutter and downspouts on the raised roof section. "They are trying to replicate the original as much as possible," Saunders said.
Council unanimously voted to paint the caboose red (Motion #8). Saunders also reported a vendor quote to construct about a 40-foot section of track with ballast and ties to display the caboose, estimated at about $14,000. The council did not vote at the meeting to award the track contract; the vote concerned the caboose color and restoration progress.
