Commission schedules flag placement for May 16 ahead of Memorial Day

The Williamstown Cemetery Commission agreed to place flags on Saturday, May 16—the Saturday before Memorial Day Weekend—to mark graves across town cemeteries. Daphne Herwig proposed setting the date and commissioners volunteered to divide responsibilities: "We should try and have them out by May 16th," Chair Matt Couillard said.
Susan Lyons said the commission would use new flags in the Village Cemetery and that residents could stop by to pick up flags for other cemeteries; she also asked for help with the large flag in the Village. Commissioners assigned East Hill, West Hill and Village responsibilities among members and planned to prepare bundles for distribution.
