Rich Turner, chairperson of the Williamstown Planning Commission, asked the Selectboard to reappoint him as the Town's Tree Warden so he can continue serving under the Urban and Community Forestry Program and attend the Urban Community Forestry Conference on May 28, 2026. Turner told the board the appointment must be documented in the minutes for him to retain the office.
Turner said the Planning Commission is ready to resume work on the Town Plan and proposed holding public outreach at the polling place on Special Town Meeting Day, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, to gather reactions to topics identified in a fall survey—resilience was a recurring theme. He also said Williamstown was selected as one of six Vermont communities to pilot a Municipal Climate Planning Guide; the town will focus on the municipal-planning strand and expect technical assistance from the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission to update hazard-mitigation and energy-plan elements. The Selectboard voted to reappoint Turner as Tree Warden so he can continue the program work.
