The City of Runnells council reviewed a proposed amendment to the FY26 budget and instructed staff to complete certification paperwork before the county auditor’s May 31 deadline. Hawkins was assigned to prepare the amendment with assistance from the Iowa League of Cities and DOM and to submit a Notice of Public Hearing for the amendment.
Council members emphasized that budget amendments are permitted to correct overspending at the account level (not sub-account level). Phillips said she would contact the county auditor’s office to ask about any outstanding fees and clarify options on the audit request form so the city can move the amendment and related payments forward.
