Residents and biking advocates urge Beacon council to advance $100,000 bike master plan

Dan Vatsky of the Beacon Bicycle Coalition recapped that the council set aside $100,000 for the initiative and asked for an update on progress and schedule so the plan can inform the 2027 comprehensive plan.
Phil Stamatis, chair of the Conservation Advisory Committee, thanked volunteers from recent Earth Day cleanups and reinforced the call for a holistic bike and pedestrian plan, saying existing projects like the rail and Fjord trails do not by themselves provide a connected, safe network for everyday trips. “We need a holistic bike and pedestrian plan by the city,” Stamatis said.
