Beacon police lieutenant retires; four officers promoted

Mayor Kiriakou and police leadership honored Lieutenant Michael Confield on his retirement and promoted four officers in a ceremony at the start of the council meeting. Chief Thomas Figlia opened the remarks by thanking Confield “for his 18 years of dedicated service to the city,” noting Confield’s role as senior lieutenant and his work on hiring, training and community relations.
Confield said he was proud of the department and its future leadership. “I am positive I am leaving Beacon better than I found it,” he said. The council and county legislators presented a plaque and proclamation. Staff announced the following promotions: Detective Sergeant Thomas Durkin to lieutenant; Sergeant Alyssa Rudin to lieutenant; Detective Ryan Samuels to sergeant; and Officer Jonathan Underwood to detective. The mayor administered the oaths of office and council members offered congratulations.
