Council removes private-road Section C to align standards with long-term infrastructure goals

City Engineer Brandon Jones told the council that South Weber’s Public Works Standards include a Private Roadway Street Section C that, in practice, functions more like a driveway and often requires later addition of curb, gutter and sidewalk. To avoid that retrofit cycle and ensure consistency with long-term goals, staff recommended removing Section C as an allowable residential roadway section.
Councilman Wayne Winsor moved to adopt Ordinance 2025-18; Councilman Jeremy Davis seconded and the ordinance passed by roll-call vote. Staff said the change is intended to reduce developer confusion and long-term maintenance costs by aligning private-road options with the city’s standard public-right-of-way expectations.
