Council signs on to five-year wildfire cooperation agreement with state

City Manager David Larson told the council that the Cooperative Wildfire System Commitment with the Utah Department of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands (FFSL) is renewed annually as part of a five-year agreement. He said the annual commitment is calculated using a risk assessment and historic-cost average, and that the city’s role includes community wildfire education and hazard mitigation to qualify for state aid if a wildfire occurs.
The council voted to approve Resolution 25-36 by roll call. Larson said the cost has decreased compared with prior years; the resolution formalizes South Weber’s continued participation in the statewide cooperative program and directs staff to carry out the education and mitigation responsibilities described in the agreement.
