Council amends FY2026 budget to recognize prior-year water equipment purchases

The South Weber City Council approved Resolution 25-34 on Dec. 9 to amend the FY2026 budget and recognize prior-year purchases for the water meter replacement program. Finance Director Brett Baltazar explained that the water department ordered equipment in the previous fiscal year that was not delivered before the year ended; those unspent funds were temporarily placed in fund balance and must now be appropriated to the current year. He noted a fund-balance amount of $152,000 in the discussion.
Brett Baltazar also described differences in how Unified handles brush-truck leases — requiring an annual payment when a vehicle is delivered but before upfitting — and staff recommended using proceeds from future sales of replaced vehicles to cover upfront costs. After staff explanation, Councilman Jeremy Davis moved to approve Resolution 25-34; Councilman Joel Dills seconded and the measure passed by roll-call vote with all members voting aye.
