Rolla council directs application for design funding to upgrade Water Treatment Plant

The Public Works Committee reported that Interstate Engineering had completed an assessment of the municipal Water Treatment Plant and recommended pursuing design funding.
Mayor Kevin Juntunen said the committee recommended that Interstate Engineering submit an application to the North Dakota Department of Water Resources (DWR) to cost-share engineering design for upgrades, which the council approved. The committee reviewed options including adding a new plant and renovating the existing treatment plant.
The minutes also record that a leak in the GSR tank on the plant's west side was repaired and the tank inspected; sewer-line repairs on 9th Ave NE were completed. The committee noted coordination with the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality on adding sodium hydroxide to adjust pH levels at the plant. A Flex Funding paving grant was not approved this round; the committee will consider street and underground water-line replacement projects for the summer.
