Neighbors oppose Pleasant View setback change, citing traffic and privacy

Several neighbors and emailed commenters told the Beacon Zoning Board that enlarging the garage and moving closer to the side lot line would increase traffic, reduce privacy and set an undesirable precedent in the neighborhood. One nearby resident spoke in support of the applicants but warned about precedent.
At the April 21 hearing, neighbors described why they oppose the requested side-yard variance at 17 Pleasant View Ave. "We kept it very brief on why we deny this variance," said Teresa Cesserini, who lives across the street and said she has been there 22 years. She told the board she worried about added traffic, construction disruption and the effect on the neighborhood's character: "The variance, we hope, is denied because there will be so much traffic on the road," she said.
Staff reported several emailed objections from nearby homeowners (Elizabeth Curtain and Christine Ulrich of 7 Pleasant View Ave; Kurt Kussell of 20 Pleasant View Ave; and David Costa of 8 Pleasant View Ave) raising traffic, privacy and general opposition to the variance. Another neighbor who identified their address as 25 Pleasant View Ave said they supported the applicants personally but worried that approving the variance would set a precedent that closes the green buffers between homes.
