During public comment resident Tonya Parks asked the council to close Mill Street between Broadway and Holt Streets on Aug. 10, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. to hold a neighborhood block party. The council approved the street closure motion.
The council separately approved a motion to have police and fire present at the Chamber of Commerce Demolition Derby on Aug. 1, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The motions were recorded with four yes votes and one member absent.
