An AmeriPro representative told commissioners that “96.6% of your call volume can be run by that” AEMT model and proposed operating two paramedic trucks plus an ALS AEMT truck and a shared supervisor position instead of three paramedic trucks.
Commissioners pressed for details on pricing, term length and vehicle capability. The chair emphasized field reliability, saying the county expects to be able to reach patients in difficult driveways: “I'm not asking you to have a fleet. I'm asking you to have the 1,” and asked staff to obtain a firm price for a four-wheel-drive quick-reaction vehicle to replace the existing QRV. The AmeriPro representative said pay increases for paramedics and a higher local incidence of narcotics-related calls were main drivers of the proposed roughly 6.5% increase and agreed to return with contract pricing, multi-year options and a written clarification of all-wheel-drive versus four-wheel-drive capability.
