The Avon Central School Board on June 9 adopted SEQRA resolutions for two 2025–26 capital projects, finding both to be Type II actions under the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and not subject to further environmental review.
The first resolution covered a $170,000 renovation, repair and replacement project at Avon High School focused on climate control and HVAC upgrades. The board's resolution cites 6 NYCRR Part 617 and states the project falls within Type II categories such as maintenance or repair involving no substantial changes, replacement in kind on the same site, or routine activity of an educational institution. The motion passed 5–0.
A second SEQRA resolution adopted the same determination for the district's Capital Outlay Project. The minutes record that copies of the SEQRA resolution will be provided to the New York State Education Department and that the district will continue to comply with guidance from the State Education Department even though the actions were determined to be Type II.
The minutes include the resolution wording and the board's unanimous votes; detailed project scopes and procurement plans were not included in the public minutes.
