Board grants tenures, approves hires and summer instructors

The Avon Central School Board on June 9 approved multiple personnel actions recommended by Superintendent Ryan Pacatte, including tenure for two administrators and appointments for summer programs.
The board granted tenure to Christie DeWald, Elementary Principal, effective June 27, 2025, and to Christina Ecklund, Director of Academic Programs, effective August 31, 2025. The board also approved the probationary appointment of Joseph Montesano (Physical Education), effective August 28, 2025, with a probationary period ending August 27, 2028. "Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent," the board moved the personnel slate as part of the consent agenda, and the motions carried 5–0.
The board appointed Tom Ellingham as Summer Enrichment Coordinator and approved instructors for the 7–12 Summer Credit Recovery Program (including Leah Young, Mary Keymel, Melissa Englert, Marisa Rumfola, Monica Swanson, Chris Cole, Emily Schroeder and Sandy Kaufmann). It also approved staff for the 2025 Extended School Year (ESY), including Chelsie Hixenbaugh, Kelly Montague and several aides and substitutes.
Board president Rodney George recorded the unanimous votes on the consent agenda; the approvals were bundled with other routine personnel and minutes approvals. The personnel actions take effect on the dates specified in the motions and were recorded in the official minutes.
