Ambulance purchase delayed while state grant remains in committee; council to call special meeting

City staff told the council they have been awaiting an official letter from the state assembly that would permit the purchase of a new ambulance. Because the assembly committee had not yet approved the grant, staff said they could not present a purchase resolution at the June 16 meeting and intend to call a special meeting next week to approve the purchase and associated budget transfer so delivery can occur this budget year.
"We can't present with you a resolution tonight to officially let us purchase that ambulance," a staff member said during reports. Staff said they would call a special meeting as quickly as possible to ensure the purchase is completed within the current budget year and to remove the delay on the vendor hold.
