Alderman Kelly presented the Pride resolution and said the city will raise the rainbow flag at City Hall: "The city of Amsterdam will raise the rainbow flag on City Hall grounds to represent a safe place within our city lines for the community to be seen and respected for whom they are." Debbie Valentin of CentroCivica described a family-pride event planned for June 20 at Veteransville Park with activities for children and community engagement.
Mayor Michael Sanquani signed the proclamation for Public Safety Heroes month and urged residents to join in recognizing the work of firefighters, first responders and police officers.
