Council OKs federal-aid funding to advance Main Street sidewalk improvements

The council advanced Resolution 25-26-211 to authorize implementation and funding in the first instance for a transportation federal-aid project covering sidewalk improvements on Main Street and related streets.
A staff member described the project as part of the DRI/TAP efforts and said East Main sidewalk work would be coordinated with next year's paving schedule. “It's Main Street; they're gonna do sidewalk improvements,” the staff member said, noting that some state and federal grant programs are targeted for those parcels.
Councilmembers also heard an engineering report covering hydro flushing at the treatment plant, CDBG-funded sewer service work planned for income-qualified homeowners, and final grading on a downtown demo project. Bids for the CDBG sewer-servicing package were expected to be advertised this month.
