Board members and the business manager discussed a proposed multi-district insurance trust and whether a two-tier structure would leave smaller districts with fewer savings. The business manager said he received an email from contractor John Duran indicating the trust materials are expected within two weeks and that the contractor is asking for commitments by the end of November.
Several board members expressed concern that smaller districts could be placed in a separate pool and therefore not receive the same favorable rates as larger districts under a two-tier trust. “So we're not going to be grouped in with the larger schools and get the benefits that come with those larger groups,” the business manager said, describing how the trust would be structured and the potential drawbacks for a small district.
