After-school program reports strong enrollment, new activities this winter

Sarah O'Neil, co-director of the after-school program at Whitney School, reported to the board that session 1 of the program has been successful and that staff have enrolled 89 students this year. She outlined activities for different grades — STEM and homework support for early grades, bike club and yearbook for older students, plus new textiles and sewing offerings — and said session 2 begins Nov. 3.
O'Neil said the program has added activities to keep children active during winter months, including indoor yoga and planned textiles/sewing and jewelry sessions led by staff. “So far, we have done ELP through 3rd grade kids club that we have earlier... For session 2, starts November 3, we are offering, again, ELP through 3rd grade,” she said, and noted the program has been well received by families and students.
