The Clinton School Board approved a revision to district policy to allow Clinton School to obtain an order for emergency use of an albuterol inhaler for students in respiratory distress.
Board members discussed the language and noted the draft policy is based on an MTSBA template; one board member asked whether the policy might be read expansively, and staff clarified the change is specifically to add albuterol for emergency use. Staff said training is required for anyone authorized to administer the inhaler and that good Samaritan protections apply. “Asthma is a leading cause of school absenteeism,” a staff presenter said, citing the Department of Public Health and Human Services when urging the board to adopt the change to prevent missed instructional time.
