The Village Board took several code housekeeping and policy actions designed to align the municipal code with current practices and provide clearer policy guidance.
Planning staff presented a zoning text amendment (Ordinance 25‑48) clarifying residential fence standards for corner lots and vacant properties; under the change a fence may be up to 6 feet where a side/rear street yard abuts another residential property and up to 4 feet on vacant parcels. The planning commission recommended the change and the board approved the ordinance.
Staff also presented a repeal of chapter 18, article 7 (Ordinance 25‑51) removing the Recreation Commission from the municipal code because it has not actively functioned; those duties will be absorbed by staff or the Parks Commission. Separately, the board created a new chapter to govern village‑owned facility names and approved a stand‑alone third‑party marketing and sponsorship section, both intended to standardize naming, sponsorship and advertising approvals and to delegate certain marketing authorities to Parks & Rec staff. Ariel, staff lead on the items, described the new naming code as setting criteria for cultural, commemorative and branded naming while identifying prohibited sponsorships.
All the items were approved by the board in sequence.
