Willard City Council approved a request from Council member Mike Braegger to place a family-funded memorial bench for his mother, Marlene Braegger Jones, in the Willard Historic Cemetery.
Braegger said, after consulting family and community members, the cemetery was the more appropriate site than the park given his mother's long association with the cemetery; he confirmed the family will fund the bench and concrete base and coordinate placement with public works to avoid interference with grave markers. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers chapter also plans commemorative elements in the cemetery.
Council member Rodney Mund moved to approve proceeding with the memorial bench project; Council member Rex Christensen seconded. The motion carried with Council member Braegger abstaining.
