Monica, the town clerk, told the board the town handled about 175 grievances at the recent Board of Assessment Review and is processing FOIL requests that have become increasingly detailed and time-consuming.
“I wanna start taking credit cards because I think it will cut down on traffic,” Monica said, noting a 4% processing fee that goes to the payment vendor and an initial setup cost she wants to avoid paying twice while the town transitions to a new website. She also said the bank’s remote check-scanning system will arrive soon and should reduce the need to physically deposit non-cash payments at the bank.
Monica said she will continue processing the grievance notices and follow up on the bank check-scanning deployment. The board discussed implementation logistics and the clerk agreed to coordinate credit-card setup timing with the website rollout.
