Jim, the town highway superintendent, reported that the Pool Hill Road resurfacing (2.18 miles) came in about $2,000 under budget and that CHIPS reimbursement paperwork has been submitted. He recommended the board accept a $27,000 bid from Acme Construction for a trailer needed by the highway department.
The board moved, seconded and approved the purchase. Later, the board approved Jim’s attendance at the Highway Association conference (estimated expense about $1,200). The motion to approve conference attendance passed with at least one abstention recorded on the floor.
Jim also noted equipment breakdowns had slowed roadside mowing but that the tractor was back in service and the department would complete the first round next week. He said fuel prices are easing but a budget transfer for fuel may still be required before year-end.
