Commissioners and public commenters raised concerns that adding or expanding routes could increase demand at the Dunkirk Park & Ride and potentially create pressure for more impervious parking surfaces. "If that takes place, isn't that going to increase more people going to the park and ride and more buses coming into the park and ride? And will that not trickle down to having to create more impervious surface for additional parking?" one commissioner asked. Staff said they did not have the parks capacity number available at the hearing and would return with that information; they noted the Park & Ride was built anticipating potential users and that any expansion or parking changes likely would involve state coordination and separate review processes.
The commission directed staff to gather data on parking capacity, any constraints from sewer or other infrastructure, and to report back at the next meeting.
