Morgan explained the hosted approach reduces reliance on local carriers, consolidates multiple bills, and includes features such as voicemail-to-email and texting; the implementation estimate assumed about 425 phones and included professional services and number porting.
Morgan provided a monthly cost estimate: "The monthly cost, it comes out as 8,133 and dollars and 75¢," and said the county should not move forward until the hosted system is confirmed to integrate flawlessly with the county’s 911 provider (inDigital). Commissioners asked staff to schedule engineers from the 911 vendor to test integration and for the auditor to confirm procurement and purchasing-cooperative authorities before approval.
