County staff outline ARC-funded economic development plan, Innovate Alabama match and pending build grant

Candace Hill briefed the commission on an Appalachian Regional Commission award to prepare an economic development strategic plan that will identify large infrastructure projects and help the county target grant-writing and design work. "We have made some good progress on our plan for the money that we were awarded from the Appalachian Regional Commission," she said.
Hill said ARC will provide $75,000 in cash and $24,000 in-kind contribution; Innovate Alabama has agreed to provide a $45,000 match that reduces the county’s cash requirement. She also listed other applications in the pipeline, including a pending BUILD grant for $2.5 million that anticipates a $250,000 county match and a $250,000 match from the City of Moody. Hill and commissioners discussed federal procurement rules for ARC funds and the need for proper procurement and compliance steps if federal requirements apply.
