The Newbury Fire Department Steering Committee heard an update that "a couple young(ish) folks from W. Newbury" are currently training with the Village Department, and members said they hope those trainees will become qualified to operate apparatus and help bring more residents into service.
Committee members framed local recruitment as a gradual, community-driven process and noted the current trainees are an early sign of progress. The committee did not set a formal recruitment plan at the meeting but suggested continued outreach and coordination with the Village Department to support on-the-job training and qualifications.
