City attorney: law department will review summary; rough ordinance draft expected in 3–4 weeks

City council attorney Ken Sheyar said the summary is thorough and confirmed the law department will convert the summary to ordinance language; the committee asked for a rough draft in about three to four weeks.
City council attorney Ken Sheyar told the subcommittee he found the SCANS summary “extremely thorough and well thought out” and that the law department will perform the final legal review to align the summary with the City of Springfield charter and existing ordinances before producing ordinance language.
When Councilor Davila asked whether a rough draft could be ready in about three weeks, Sheyar said he would notify the city solicitor of the requested timeline and that three to four weeks seemed reasonable given other workloads. The committee agreed to reconvene after the law department prepares the draft for further discussion.
