The St. Clair County Commission approved an ALDOT TRIP II agreement for turn-lane construction on US‑231 and authorized a design-and-plans contract with GMC for approximately $268,000.
County Engineer Dan Dahlke described the project limits (north of Road to just south of Johnson Drive) and said the state would contribute up to $2,000,000 through the TRIP II total agreement. Dahlke said the county and Pell City would need to provide an estimated local match in the order of $700,000; exact costs will be refined as plans are developed. "Between us and them, we're probably gonna have around 700,000 to go with that yet," Dahlke said.
The commission moved and approved both the ALDOT agreement/resolution and the GMC design agreement. Commissioners noted the project will target intersections near Coosa Valley School and that final funding details will be developed as plans proceed. The GMC contract covers plan development and bidding; construction funding will require future budget approvals.
