Commission honors 911 telecommunicator Hannah Garrison for aiding childbirth

The St. Clair County Commission presented a formal commendation to telecommunicator Hannah Garrison for her role in a March 30, 2026 emergency call that helped guide the delivery of a baby.

"We would like to honor telecommunicator Hannah Garrison for the outstanding performance during the critical emergency call received on 03/30/2026 at approximately 0014 hours," Chairman Beckman read from the commendation presented on the dais. The commission said Garrison's clear, calm instructions helped ensure a successful delivery "without complication." The commendation was issued by Sheriff Billy Murray and the county commission.

Sheriff's Office staff and county leaders praised Garrison's development into a trainer and shift supervisor. Dan Dahlke, the county engineer who spoke at the presentation, called her "a great dispatcher, a great person" and said the county is in good hands when she is on duty. Garrison accepted the recognition and told the commission it was her first such incident.

The commission adopted a resolution honoring the telecommunicator and expressed appreciation for the county's 911 staff. No further policy action was attached to the commendation; it was a recognition of individual performance.
