Grand Prairie ISD superintendent previews school calendar, programs and supports for new year

Superintendent Gabe Trujillo told host Georgia Clemson that Grand Prairie ISD is preparing families and staff for a new school year that begins with staff reporting for a convocation on Aug. 3 and the district inviting families to an elementary "sneak peek" on Aug. 6 ahead of classes starting on Aug. 11. "We'll invite our families back to the district on August 6 for elementary sneak peek," Trujillo said, urging parents to check the district calendar for key date differences.
Trujillo described calendar adjustments designed to give teachers stopping points for professional development and rest during the year and urged families to download the online calendar. He also emphasized campus-level supports — administrators, counselors and social workers — and encouraged parents to visit campuses before the first day to learn drop-off routes and ease students' transitions between grade levels.
