Village establishes street-lighting utility district for Logistics Center at Pleasant Prairie

The Village Board on Dec. 8 approved Resolution 25-34 to create a street-lighting utility district covering the Logistics Center at Pleasant Prairie development and an adjacent Wisconsin Electric Power Company lot. Staff said the developer installed 32 street lights along Kessel Court as part of a required road extension, and developer-paid installation costs were about $202,000.
Village staff explained that the lighting district allows the village to invoice the development association for monthly electric and repair costs related to those lights; the estimated monthly lighting utility charge for that portion of Kessel Court is $395.50. The board opened a public hearing, noted there were no sign-ups to speak, and then moved to establish the district.
A trustee asked procedural questions and staff said similar utility-district arrangements exist for other commercial and industrial areas (Lakeview Corporate Park, Prairie Highlands, etc.). The motion to adopt Resolution 25-34 was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
